Free Movie Streaming Online in HD Quality

You probably know that your local cable provider offers online streaming of TV.  If not, then chances are you live outside of North America, or list in the middle of nowhere and under a rock.

Everyone is trying to save a buck with the way the economy is these days.  It’s very difficult to cut such things as electricity, water, heating, phone, etc., but television could be an easy thing to cut.

The average monthly cable bill in the U.S. is around $60—more than $700 per  year. Satellite TV generally offers some savings compared to cable, depending on what equipment and channels package your family chooses.

If you can live with your local channels then look into a getting an antenna.  Even a digital antenna can get you great quality tv for free.

What if you want channels like TSN and HBO.  A surprising amount of TV and movie content is now available over the Internet for streaming and download for free or for almost free.  Most major networks and cable channels offer a great collection of movies and TV shows for streaming over the Internet. CNN’s site posts video feeds of breaking news, and ESPN has partnerships with various Internet providers around the country to offer its ESPN360 live sports streaming service. New episodes of popular TV shows such as Lost, Modern Family, 30 Rock and 24 are usually up on network sites within a day. NBC teamed up with Fox to being a site like hulu.com and Netflix.

Its a box world out there and Internet streaming videos, movies and tv shows are great, but how do you watch all that great content on your  TV like you do with your cable box.  Nobody wants to sit in front of a computer to watch something.  Its nearly impossible to watch a tv show with your family in front of your computer.  Many new digital TVs from manufacturers such as Samsung, Sony, Panasonic and Vizio come with Internet hookups that can directly link to sources such as Netflix and YouTube.  Dell and HP sell computers under 5 hundred with HDMI outputs that can be hooked up directly to a TV.

In addition, there are a several Internet-enabled boxes that can be used with these sources. The Microsoft Xbox 360 and PS3 can show streaming Netflix movies with a $50 yearly Xbox Live subscription and PS3 membership. Perhaps the most elegant add-on device is the $99 Roku video-streaming box. It has built-in Wi-Fi and is a snap to set up and use. Roku streams Netflix movies and video-on-demand from Amazon, which has both free and rentable content.
